Ed's Cinco de Mayo Party– May 5, 2001
Arriba! Ed’s Cinco de Mayo party was one to remember. It was an all day-all night affair complete with two live surf bands-- the all-girl Rancheros and the red hot Hillbilly Soul Surfers. Everyone danced like crazy, working off the huge amounts of food and drink consumed during the non-stop barbeque.

Ed’s friends came from all over the country for this special occasion, and many brought their kids to join in the fun. The daytime barbeque-swimming pool party was a hit. Grown ups and kids alike did jumps and flips on the diving board and slid down the water slide. A few people got unexpectedly splashed or thrown in, but the weather was sunny so no harm done. Of course, Ed’s golden retriever Zeke was in the pool as much as anyone. Zeke had a ball swimming and hanging out by the little ones in the jacuzzi.

Ed went all out of course, and had all the nice stuff. Full wet bar, two kegs (including Sam Adams!), plus a MARGARITA FOUNTAIN that was a huge hit. Thanks to Ed Sr. for setting it up and keeping it flowing. For the kids of all ages: sodas and juice galore, including a fancy juice fountain. TONS of fabulous food... meat, veggies, spices and fixins to make everyone drool. Chef Dale Besner (aka Beswah) kept things cookin’, working two big BBQs at once.

Everything down to the blue covered tables with cushioned chairs was first class. Space heaters kept everyone comfortable in the evening. Ed even ordered 2 portable restrooms including a fancy flushing model for the ladies. Thoughtful, and swanky.

Friends and family pitched in with decorations. Twinkle lights (thanks Brent), red and green twisted crepe paper, balloons and little Mexican flags on every table. Thanks Renee, Rochelle, Maureen, Janine and everyone who helped. Ed’s house had enough red and green to ...um, look really red and green.

Everyone ate, drank and was merry. Beside the dancing and swimming pool, there was croquet (set up by Matthew Martineau), pool table, and a game table for the kids of all ages. Ed invited all to stay, and many took him up by spending the night in tents, RVs and sleeping bags. Some got local hotel rooms, and returned the next day for the spontaneous follow-up party. Thanks to all those who helped with the cleanup.

Guests were too many to name, but be assured that Ed appreciated seeing so many great friends and family. The fabulous turnout was indicative of the outpouring of love and support he received. He was grateful to all of you who were there, and to those who couldn’t make it. Your support helped him immensely. Special thanks goes to Renee, for giving so much to Ed. We ALL thank you Renee for loving and helping him beyond measure.
