INCA FOOTSTEPS - 18 days/17 nights
Day 1 Upon Arrival you will be met at the Lima's international airport by our representative and transferred to your selected hotel located in Miraflores, the modern area of Lima.
Day 2 This afternoon you will explore the modern and colonial areas of Lima well- known as the "City of the Kings".
Day 3 Visit the Archaeological museum to get an excellent introduction to the history of the different cultures of Peru . After the museum then visit Puruchuco archaeological site. Return to the hotel for lunch (on your own). In the afternoon you will visit the world famous Gold Museum.
Day 4 After buffet breakfast, transfer to take the flight to Chiclayo (29 meters above sea level). Arrival, reception and you will be transferred to the Gran Hotel Chiclayo. In the afternoon you will visit Bruning Museum which houses an extraordinary collection of pottery and gold artifacts from ancient cultures of the northern Peru. This will be followed by a visit to Tucume, the Valley of the 26 pyramids.
Day 5 Buffet breakfast. In the morning you will visit the Royal tomb of a Moche Lord located in Sipan. It is considered as one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the last 20 years. Then visit Monsefu, a little town famous by its handicrafts. In the afternoon visit the city of Chiclayo and the mysterious witches market where you will find different artifact used by the shamans for their curative sessions.
Day 6 After breakfast you will be transferred by private car to Trujillo. (34 meters above sea level) On the way you will visit El Brujo, an interesting moche archaeological site. Arrival, reception and transfer to selected hotel.
Day 7 After breakfast you will explore Chan Chan, The capital of Chimu empire and the largest adobe mud brick settlement in the world. After lunch at the nearby beach of Huanchacoyou will visit the colonial city of Trujillo. Overnight at selected hotel.
Day 8 This morning you will visit the Sun and Moon temples, important center of Moche culture. Rest of the day at leisure. At appropriate hour you will be transferred to the airport to board the flight to Lima. Arrival and transfer to the airport.
Day 9 Lima/Cusco/Yucay. After Buffet breakfast transfer to the airport to take the flight to Cuzco. As soon as you arrive our host will transfer you to a cafeteria to invite you to drink a coca tea to help you to adjust to the altitude (3400 meters above sea level). Then you will have a guided tour to the Sacred valley of the Incas with its the traditional andean towns and Inca sites. In the village of Pisac you will visit a colorful indian market (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) which is full of traditional Andean artifacts. After lunch at local restaurant you will visit Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. Overnight at hotel located in the Sacred Valley.
Day 10 You will be transferred to Ollanta station to board the train for a two-hour journey to the fabled "Lost City of the Incas" : Machu Picchu. (2400 meters above sea level) Visit the inca citadel followed by lunch. Overnight.
Day 11 This morning is free morning to explore the city on your own. In the afternoon you will board the train to return to Cusco.
Day 12 This afternoon you will visit the city of Cuzco with its major places of interest such as : Koricancha, the main square, the Cathedral and some of the numerous streets lined with Inca stonework. Then visit the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puca-Pucara, Tambomachay and the impressive Sacsayhuaman inca fortress which overlooks Cusco.
Day 13 Free day in Cusco to explore the city on your own.
Day 14 Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Arequipa - well known as the "White City" (2335 meters above sea level). This afternoon you will visit the city and the famous Santa Catalina convent.
Day 15 This morning you will visit the Andean Sanctuaries Museum where you will meet Juanita the amazing Inca frozen mummy recently found atop the nearby Ampato volcano. Free afternoon for optional activities.
Day 16 Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Juliaca. Arrival, reception and transfer to Puno ( 3830 meters above sea level). Afternoon visit Sillustani burial tombs.
Day 17 Visit the Titicaca Lake, the highest navigable lake in the world where you will find floating islands where Uros indians who live as their ancient relatives have lived for centuries. Afternoon transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima. Arrival, reception and transfer to a hotel. Tonight is free to take a farewell dinner at excellent restaurants such as La Casta Verde or Las Brujas de Cachiche.
Day 18 Transfer to the airport to take your international flight.
