Visit the marvelous ancient Andean cultures at your leisure. From the northern region, tour Chan-Chan, Pyramides of the Sun & Moon, Lord of Sipan, Bruning Museum and other sites. We overnight in Machu Picchu, and visit the local ruins of Cuzco, high in the Andes. Then south to Arequipa and Juliaca, for the burial towers of Sillustani, Taquile Island and the floating island of the Uros.
Ecuador's small size belies its rich culture and beautiful scenery. Visit famous Otavalo handcraft market, where intricately woven tapestries, ponchos and hammocks are displayed, the mid-world monument of the Equator, take a colorful train trip from the Andean highlands to the valleys of Cuenca and its unique culture and crafts. Then tour the Amazon Basin aboard a floating hotel, experiencing the flora and fauna of the jungle forest.
