SOUTH AMERICA HIGHLIGHTS - 16 days/14 nights in South America

DAY 1 – SUN - Depart from Miami or Los Angeles.

DAY 2 – Arrive in Iguassu Falls, Brazil and transfer to hotel.

DAY 3 – Day at leisure in Iguassu (B).

DAY 4 – Morning tour of the Argentina side of the falls. Afternoon transfer to airport for a flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival transfer to Hotel (B).

DAY 5 – Buenos Aires. Half day city tour - A three and a half hour sightseeing tour visiting: May Square, Government House, Cathedral, Columbus Square, Boca District, San Martin Square, Santa Fe Avenue, Recoleta Cemetery, Faculty of Law, Grand Bourg Square, Palermo Chico district and the many more, plus the famous Colon Opera House (B).

DAY 6 – Buenos Aires. Full day Fiesta Gaucha - The best way to see something of life on an estancia (ranch) and the gaucho in his natural environment. You will be transferred to an estancia by our local representative where an authentic asado will be served with empanadas, parrillada and plenty of wine. The gauchos will provide entertainment themselves in the form of music, dancing and singing to the accompaniment of guitars and bombos - a local version of a bass drum in wood with a cow hide head- a show of horsemanship with a demonstration of pato, a game where two teams gallop after a ball with six handles. Originally the teams used a duck, hence the name of the game; or a demonstration of a "carrera de la sortija": where two teams gallop at full tilt under a wooden arch and try to pass a pin through a small ring hanging from the arch. For the daring ones, there will be time to ride a criollo horse (B, L).

DAY 7 – Buenos Aires/Bariloche. Transfer to airport for a flight to Bariloche. Situated on the shore of Nahuel Huapi Lake, Bariloche offers a variety of possibilities to the visitor. Amazing natural lakes, rivers, glaciers, waterfalls, torrents, rapids, valleys, forest, mountains and snow-peaks. It is well known as the South American Switzerland not only because of its landscape but also for its architecture, the origin of its inhabitants and the delicious chocolate you can have there. This is a paradise for fishing, hunting, skiing, golfing, climbing, trekking and of course relaxing. Upon arrival, transfer to a hotel for overnight (B).

DAY 8 – Bariloche - Half day city tour along the shore of Nahuel Huapi Lake up to Llao-Llao district named after the famous hotel, as well as Puerto Pañuelo, Moreno Lake, Campanario Hill, El Trebol Lake, Panoramic Point and Lopez Bay. Return to the hotel (B).

DAY 9 – Bariloche/Peulla. Departure From the hotel to Puerto Panuelo. Sailing on Nahuel Huapi Lake up to Puerto Blest. Short bus ride to Puerto Alegre. Sailing on Lake Frias, the only lake that freezes in winter, up to Puerto Frias. Continue by bus to Poso International Vicente Perez Rosales and cross the Argentine and Chilean border (stop at customs and immigration office) and continue to Peulla. Accommodations at Peulla Hotel. Dinner.

DAY 10 – Peulla/Puerto Montt. Departure by bus to Puerto Peulla and sailing on Lake "Todos Los Santos" (All Saints), also called Esmeralda Lake, for about 2 hours to get to Petrohue, located at the foot of Osorno Volcano. Lunch. Continue by bus passing by Petrohue waterfalls and along the coast of Llanquihue Lake, one of the biggest in South America. After another 20 Km, arrival in Puerto Montt. Reception and accommodation at hotel.

DAY 11 – Puerto Montt/Santiago. Transfer to airport for a flight to Santiago. Upon arrival, meeting service at the airport and transfer to Hotel. Afternoon city tour - A complete sightseeing of the city, which will provide a comprehensive of the capital of Chile. It includes the Bernardo O'Higgins Avenue, San Francisco Monastery and Museum, Santa Lucia Hill where the foundation of Santiago took place in 1541. The modern residential areas of Las Condes, Vitacura and Providencia with its main shopping centers. The best panoramic view will be seen from the top of the San Cristobal Hill, having the chance to view the whole city and its surroundings. The tour will continue to visit the picturesque Bellavista, Santiago's Bohemian district, which concentrates the artistic life, good restaurants, theater-cafes and the best galleries. There will be time to visit some ships of handicrafts made of lapis lazuli. In Bellavista there's also located "La Chascona" one of the houses where the Chilean Noble Prizewinner poet Pablo Neruda lived.

DAY 12 – Full day Valparaiso/Vina Del Mar - Morning departure for a full day excursion to Vina Del Mar, main seaside resort and Valparaiso, the most important Port of Chile. Traveling through a beautiful countryside and valleys of Curacavi and Casablanca, arrival to Vina Del Mar known as the "Garden City", visit to Plaza Vergara, O'Higgins, Libertad and Per Avenues, Sausalito Park, San Martin Avenue and the Oceanside resort of Renaca, Los Lilenes and Con Con. The tour continues to Valparaiso passing the Flower Clock and Caleta Abarca, a popular beach. Visitors will admire the architecture and the old Cityport. The tour stops at a typical restaurant overlooking the sea.

DAY 13 – Transfer to airport for a flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Upon arrival, transfer to a hotel, daily breakfast included (B).

DAY 14 – Rio. Half day city tour with Sugar Loaf tour - A ride along the world famous beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, circling the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and proceeding to the Maracana, one of the world's largest stadiums. Visit the modern Cathedral in the center of town, the Flamingo Park and the World War II Memorial. The grand finale of the tour: a thrilling cable-car ride to the top of the Sugar Loaf. Once you are at the top you will see a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay (B).

DAY 15 – Rio. Half day Corcovado/Tijuca Forest tour - Scenic ride along Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon. Crossing over to the traditional residential area of Cosme Velho, and disembarking at the Corcovado railroad station to take a train ride through lush forest up to the statue of Christ the redeemer. Back by train as far as the Paineiras Station, transferring to a bus for an unforgettable ride through the Tijuca Rain Forest. Fantastic panorama and beautiful waterfalls. Return via a panoramic road to the Sao Conrado, Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana beaches.

DAY 16 – Transfer to airport for return to the U.S. (B).
